How do cookies and cache work?

Cookies are files that websites you visit produce. They simplify your internet experience by storing browsing information. The cache saves portions of websites, such as photos, to make them open more quickly on subsequent visits.

We have written an article on how to erase cache and cookies based on your browser since, in some instances, clearing cache and cookies can help you,

Mac, Windows, and Chrome

1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click More.
3. Click More tools. Clear browsing data.

4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.

5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
6. Click Clear data.

Chrome / Android

1. Launch the Chrome app on your Android smartphone or tablet.

2. Tap on "More," which appears as three dots to the right of the address bar, and then choose "Settings."

3. Select "Clear browsing data" from the "Privacy" category by tapping on it.

4. By choosing a specific time frame, you may customize your choices for which cookies to remove.

5. Check "Cookies and site data" once you have made your preferences. All other things should be unchecked.

6. Select "Clear data."

Chrome / iOS

1. On your device, launch the Chrome app.

2. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner, scroll down, and then choose "Settings."

3. Click "Privacy" then "Clear Browsing Data" under settings.

4. Uncheck all other options and choose "Cookies, site data."

5. Tap on “Clear browsing data.”
6. Then select “Done.”

Firefox / Windows / Mac

1. Open Firefox

2. Click the hamburger menu in the upper-right corner of the browser window and select Settings.

3. Click Privacy & Security in the left navigation panel.

4. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data and click Clear Data.

5. Uncheck the box for Cookies and Site Data while keeping the box checked for Cached Web Content. Then click Clear.

Firefox / Android

Depending on the type of phone you have and the Firefox version it is running, certain steps could change. In the upper right area, look for the menu symbol (three bars). You must first hit the hardware menu key on earlier Android smartphones before selecting "More."

1. Open Firefox

2. With Firefox open, navigate to settings by tapping the three horizontal dots in the bottom right and selecting Settings.

3. Tap Delete browsing data and make sure the box for Cached images and files is checked.

4. Tap Delete browsing data.

Firefox / iOS

1. Open Firefox

2. With Firefox open, tap the hamburger menu and tap Settings.

3. Under Privacy, tap Data Management.

4. With the cache toggle turned on, tap Clear Private Data. Tap it again to confirm.


Safari / Windows / MacOS

1. Open Safari.

2. Select “Preferences” from the dropdown menu.

3. Click on “Privacy,” then on “Manage Website Data.”

4. Click on “Remove all” from the menu.

Safari / iOS

1. Enter the Settings menu on your device.

2. Scroll down to “Safari,” then “Advanced,” then “Website Data.”

3. Tap on “Clear history and website data” to clear cookies.
